Planning of Tan An urban become a satellite urban of Ho Chi Minh City

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has just signed Decision No. 686/QD-TTg dated June 13, 2023, approving the planning of Long An province for the period of 2021 - 2030, and a vision to 2050.

According to the Decision, the organization of socio-economic activities follows the model of "one center, two economic corridors, three socio-economic regions, six dynamic axes".

Specifically, Tan An City is the political-administrative - nuclear urban - satellite urban center of Ho Chi Minh City; the center of trade, service, and modern high-tech industry in the Northeast of the Mekong Delta.

Two economic corridors include:

Corridor of Ring Road 3 - 4: Sticking along the axes of Ring 3 and Ring 4 roads of Ho Chi Minh City.

Southern Corridor: Sticking along the inter-provincial dynamic axis from Ho Chi Minh City through Long An province and connecting with Tien Giang province (via National Highway 50B).

Three socio-economic regions include:

Urban and industrial areas: Including Duc Hoa, Ben Luc, Can Giuoc, Can Duoc districts, part of Tan Tru district, Tan An City, part of Thu Thua district, and Chau Thanh district. This place focuses on urban development and general industry, forming the central urban development corridor in Ben Luc - Tan An and industrial cities in Duc Hoa, Can Giuoc, and Can Duoc districts; developing economic zones in Can Giuoc and Can Duoc districts; developing peri-urban agriculture, specialized cultivation and application of high technology in Chau Thanh and Tan Tru districts and Tan An city.

High-tech agricultural area, tourism, and border-gate economy: Including Kien Tuong town and Vinh Hung, Tan Hung, Moc Hoa, Tan Thanh, and Thanh Hoa districts, a part of Thu Thua district. To develop services and industry in border-gate economic zones; develop eco-tourism in association with the typical landscape of Dong Thap Muoi region, try to make Dong Thap Muoi tourism brand a national brand closely associated with the province's tourism. Simultaneously develop Kien Tuong town as the center of Dong Thap Muoi region.

Ecological region: Including Duc Hue district, part of Thu Thua district, and part of Tan Tru district; develop hi-tech agriculture, use resource land fund for industrial development, ecological urban area, and intra-provincial transit zone.
