Nhon Trach will be an industrial urban area - a port city

Nhon Trach has a "golden" location, 3 sides bordering the river and located in the center of the economic triangle of Ho Chi Minh City - Dong Nai and Ba Ria - Vung Tau. Nhon Trach is oriented to become an industrial urban area - a port city.

In early January 2023, the Standing Committee issued Resolution No. 09-NQ/TU on Nhon Trach urban development to 2030, and vision to 2040.

Establishment of Nhon Trach City in 2030

In 2009, the Standing Committee issued Resolution No. 13 (Resolution No. 13-NQ/TU dated July 30, 2009) to build Nhon Trach City to meet the criteria of a class II urban area by 2020. However, After 10 years, the eastern satellite urban area of Ho Chi Minh City has still not taken shape.According to the assessment of the results of implementing Resolution No. 13, the Standing Committee said that the development process of H.Nhon Trach still has many limitations such as: state management of planning, construction, and undeveloped land; Economic restructuring is not strong; Low economic efficiency and competitiveness...

The TVTU Board has developed and issued a new resolution on Nhon Trach urban development to 2030, and a vision to 2040.

One of the important goals set by Resolution No. 09 is that by 2025, Nhon Trach must strive to meet the criteria of a class III urban area. In addition, Nhon Trach City will be established and meet the basic criteria of a class II urban area by 2030.

With the advantages of location as well as industrial development foundation, H.Nhon Trach is oriented to develop into an industrial urban area - a port city in the future.

Nhon Trach is a locality with the top industrial park development speed. Since 1997, in H.Nhon Trach, 3 industrial parks have been established. After more than 20 years, H.Nhon Trach has had 9 industrial parks established and put into operation.

Besides the strength of industrial development, the seaport is also another strength of Nhon Trach in economic development. There are 3 seaports in the province, H.Nhon Trach has 2. In terms of quantity, Nhon Trach District is the locality with the largest number of seaports in the province.

Secretary of Nhon Trach District Party Committee Le Thanh My said: "The orientation of developing Nhon Trach into an industrial urban area - a port city is in accordance with the local strengths and potentials. Currently, Phuoc An port is the largest seaport in the province under construction. It will increase the advantage of the seaport in local economic development."

According to the Secretary of the Nhon Trach District Party Committee, the District has assigned the Nhon Trach District People's Committee to develop an action program to concretize Resolution No. 09 of the Standing Committee.

Diversify resources

If Nhon Trach district wants to develop into an industrial urban area - a port city as well as establish Nhon Trach City by 2030, it requires a huge investment resource.

Vice Chairman of Nhon Trach District People's Committee Nguyen The Phong said that investing in the local transport infrastructure system requires a capital of more than 10 trillion VND. The investment capital that Nhon Trach needs in the coming time will be much larger to meet the development needs of social housing, trade and services and attract people to live. Therefore, the top deciding factor needs to be calculating resource diversification.

“The district is checking and making statistics of projects in the near future to calculate resources for implementation. The locality is considering mobilizing additional resources to meet the demand" - Mr. Nguyen The Phong said.

One of the main solutions that H.Nhon Trach is aiming for is to auction public lands to create investment capital.

According to Mr. Nguyen The Phong, Nhon Trach District is checking to make a list of public lands eligible for auction and to propose to the Provincial People's Committee for approval. Thereby, Nhon Trach District has conditions to reinvest in projects to serve development needs in the coming time.

In addition, Nhon Trach district also conducted inspections to propose to the Provincial People's Committee to revoke slow projects that affect the local development process and waste land resources.

Therefore, it will help Nhon Trach District free up land resources and increase efficiency in the socio-economic development process.
