On February 1, the Ministry of Planning and Investment chaired the Dong Nai Provincial Planning Conference for the period 2021-2030, vision 2050. At the appraisal session, Council members and experts gave opinions for further collection, finalization, review, and approval.

The national master plan has determined that Dong Nai will lead the country and Southeast Asia in economics, finance, trade, services, health, education, high-quality human resources, science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation.

Dong Nai belongs to the southern dynamic region

Therefore, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, Tran Quoc Phuong said that this is an opportunity for Dong Nai Province to determine its mission.

The plan is that in 2030, Dong Nai will be at the forefront of modern industry; and science and technology center; The transit gateway of the South, Long Thanh International Airport is the nucleus. In 2050, Dong Nai will be one of Vietnam's important growth poles.

In addition, the average GRDP in the period 2021-2030 is 10%/year. GRDP per capita by 2030 14,650 USD. GRDP in the period 2031-2050 reaches 6.5-7%.

Dong Nai has many advantages

Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment commented that Dong Nai has many advantages. The province has a large area, high terrain, relatively flat, temperate climate, and stable water source, rarely affected by storms, floods, and natural disasters. This is an opportunity and potential for the province to develop its economy and society.

Dong Nai is a gateway province to the Southeast region - the most developed and dynamic economic region of the country. In particular, the province is one of three corners of the development triangle of Ho Chi Minh City - Binh Duong - Dong Nai. There are many traditional craft village industrial clusters and more than 33 industrial parks that have been put into operation by the Prime Minister.

In 2020, Dong Nai was the province with the 5th largest population in the country (nearly 3.1 million people). The province ranked 3rd in terms of Gross Product in the area (GRDP reached nearly 400,000 billion VND, equivalent to 17.2 billion USD). The province ranked 6th in terms of per capita income (reaching 124 million VND, equivalent to 5,300 USD). The province ranks 19th in GRDP (reaching over 9.0%).

However, Deputy Minister Tran Quoc Phuong also assessed that the province's socio-economic development has not had a breakthrough in recent times. Economic growth is high, but it is not sustainable. Although the technical and social infrastructure systems have focused investment, they are not synchronized.

“The major challenges and bottlenecks in socio-economic development need to be identified and focused on handling in this planning. The purpose is to create more energy for Dong Nai to develop sustainably in the coming time," Mr. Phuong emphasized.
